Moving elements are active elements, used to number, mark,
designate, name etc. The user of ADPlayer is required to
drag the moving element to a target. The target can be a Static Picture,
a Static Text or an Active List.
The description below presumes some familiarity with
the examples 1 to 17.
---- Designate, without repetitions, picture as target ----
We want to create this AD group.- Choose Static Text from the menu Create Element of ADWorks and use its button Def. to obtain the left part of this illustration. (The 2 words with strike out are portions of referenced text, explained in example 4).
Note: We must define the target of then Moving Element before filling its Evaluation Table. There are essentially 3 types of target:- Use the button Def. to define the target of the Moving Element with the drop down box of this illustration
1) Static Picture, 2) Static Text and 3) the 4 types of Active List
Note: You cannot fill the Evaluation Table as long as the target is not defined.- Use the button Eval. of the Moving Element to fill the Evaluation Table of the Moving Element. The dialog for a item in the illustrated Evaluation Table is identically with the one already encountered encountered at Example 17 (Static Picture and "Hot Spots Animation") and at Example 18 (Multimedia Portion and Pictures).
Messages etc. can be added in the same way as explained in the former
examples.
We are ready jump to ADPlayer to test the created Moving Element.
See
Illustration.
Note 1: We did not change any element of the Setting Tab of the Evaluation Table. The Setting Tab looks like this. The variety of uses of Moving Elements results from the choices made on the Setting Tab. See the enumeration of the choices on the the Setting Tab.
The Setting Tab also mentions the ID of the target (the Static Picture with number 1002 on the illustration)
Note 2: The Equality Criteria in the case of Moving Elements is simple: the center of the dragged rectangle is inside/outside of the rectangle traced when filling the Evaluation table.
Note 3: Several rectangles my figures in the Evaluation Table, for instance to comment bad moves or if there are several solution.
Note 4: If rectangles of the Evaluation Table overlap then the rectangle with maximal points in the column Points will be considered.
Note 5 (Important Topic): You can choose Move to Element (Selection = all) in the column Possibility of the Dialog of Evaluation of a Moving Element (see illustration). Move to Element is equivalent to trace the rectangle formed by the border if the picture. You may want to use Moove to Element in cases like this:
1) You want to make appear a message like "You moved to the good picture but to a bad place on the picture". Do not forget to set zero points in the column Points in this case, see Illustration.
2) You use several Static Pictures and the user must drag to the good one and the place on the good picture isn't of any importance. See illustration 1 (before validation) and illustration 2 (after validation) of an AD group made of 1 Static Text, 7 Static Pictures, 1 Moving Element and 1 Validater. The Moving Element has the llama picture as target and the only item in the Evaluation Table is Move to Element.
---- Designate, with repetitions, picture as target ----
We want to create this AD group. It may look like this after validation.- Use the menu Create Element of ADWorks to create
Messages etc. can be added in the same way as explained in the former
examples.

See Illustrations, initial state,
after
validation.
Note: This example is created in the same way.
---- Number, picture as target----
This example We want to create this AD group. It may look like this after validation.- Use the menu Create Element of ADWorks to create
Messages and Hints etc. can be added in the same way as in the former
examples.

See Illustrations, initial state,
after
validation.
Note 1: The 3 kinds of order required are explained in the help file (click on the yellow question mark).
Note 2: The only difference among the 4 kinds of Numbered is the look of the label (see also help file).
Note 3: Always use Repeating fields for Numbering on Pictures and set the maximum to the number you like. It can be any number smaller than 6 in the present example.
Note 4: Do not use the tedious Numbering on Picture when you can solve the problem in easier way, for instance with multiple choice. Multiple choice are treated in Example 6, see screenshot concerning multiple choice for numbering.
---- Name, picture as target ----
We want to create this AD group. It may look like this after validation.- Use the menu Create Element of ADWorks to create
Note: Duplicate with Permanent will all inherit - and keep - all settings from the Definitions of the selected element. Ilt will also inherit the settings from the Evaluation Dialog, but the settings of the Evaluation Dialog are not permanent (this is exactly what we want, see next 5 steps below). More about Chain of Definition can be found at Example 2.- Use the Setting Tab (button Eval.) and replace the text "Donkey" with "Cow". See Result after OK.
- Use the menu Create Element of ADWorks to create a Validater and link all 6 Moving Elements to it. See Illustration.
- Define the Evaluation Table for the Donkey-Moving Element
(Selection
of the Donkey).
- Define the Evaluation Table for the Cat-Moving Element
(Selection
of the Cat).
- Define the Evaluation Table for the Horse-Moving Element
(Selection
of the Horse).
- Define the Evaluation Table for the Goat-Moving Element
(Selection
of the Goat).
- Define the Evaluation Table for the Dog-Moving Element
(Selection
of the Dog).
- Use the button Def. of the Static Text to define the portion of referenced text.
Messages and Hints etc. can be added in the same way as in the former
examples.

after
validation.
---- Moving Element with resource, picture as target ----
This AD group is almost identically
with the preceding one. There is only 1 difference:
The Moving Elements do not have names (Donkey, Cow etc.) but
a multimedia (MM) resource. The resource can be a picture, a sound, a video,
a large text etc. On the screenshot it is a sound and a click on the MM
button makes us hear the cry of an animal. Rather than the cry of a donkey,
cow etc. you can figure a spoken sound about donkey, cow etc. as resource
in language teaching document.
The setting to replace names by resources is shown
on this illustration taken from the Donkey-Moving Element.
---- Moving Element with resource, text as target ----
The Evaluation Table traces rectangles in the case of Moving Elements with Picture as target. The Evaluation Table selects text in the case of Moving Elements with Text as target. This is the only difference between these two kinds of Moving Elements.
Note: The program ADPlayer will calculate the rectangle from the selection of text and treat the case as if it where a Moving Elements with Picture as target. All features derived from Moving Elements with Picture as target apply to Moving Elements with Text as target.
With the choice of this illustration (button Def.) the Moving Element will get a Static Text as target.
Example 1, screenshot before
validation, after validation.
To create the AD group of example 1, you need to create a Static Text to tell what’s to do, a Static Text containing the George Orwell text, a Moving Element and a Validater. The Moving Element must be linked to the Validater. The Moving Element must be linked to George Orwell text (Def. button. illustration). The Evaluation Table of the Moving Element must contain the 8 animal actors (Illustration 1). As explained at example 18, the Evaluation Table will contains 12 items because some animals are mentioned more than once. They must be grouped, Illustration 2). The number of repetitions must be set to 8, no order required. The Properties of the Moving Element is set to Without text, without resource on the Setting Tab (illustation). The color red is given with the button Def.Example 2, screenshot before validation, after validation.
To create the AD group of example 2, you need to create a Static Text to tell what’s to do, a Static Text containing the repetitions of the character "x", 7 Moving Element and a Validater. The7 Moving Element must be linked to the Validater. Each Moving Element must be linked to text with the "x" (use the creation Duplication with permanent link to avoid to link 8 times, see above Name, picture as target). The Settings (button Eval.) of each Moving Element is identically to the example Name, picture as target). The Evaluation Table of each Moving Element contains one item.Example 3, screenshot before validation, after validation.
The AD group of example 3 is almost identically to Example 2. The only difference is the setting (button Eval.). The setting is each Moving Element is With resource ... The aded resource is a picture with direct display mode. This produces a Moving Element with a Goat, Horse etc.Note: The choice Moove to Element (Selection = all) for Moving Element with text as target is exactly the same as explained for the Moving Element with picture as target. See the above note 5 (Important Topic).
---- Moving Element, liste active as target ----
The AD groupe of this illustration, before
validation, after validation,
uses an Active List of resources
(the seven animals).
The Evaluation Table of the Active List looks like
this.
5 portions of referenced text are used in the Static Text (Illustration).
8 Moving Elements are linked in this
way to the Active List.
The first 7 Moving Elements are set to (button Eval. Setting
Tab) With text as defined with the field "Text" below, and the last
one is set to Without text without resources aspect defined with Def.
The Evaluation Table for each Moving Element is filled
like this.
The 8 Moving Elements are linked to the Validater.
