Example 12, Messages for Hints/Solutions

This description requires the knowledge Score, Hints, Solutions, History  and Exercise 11.

This description will add Hints and Solutions to Document_Ex11.ADsrc, found on the CD in the folder Sample/Try This/FolderEx11/. The modified document will be saved with the name Document_Ex12.ADsrc. It can be found on the CD in the folder Sample/Try This/FolderEx12/

FIRST PART

Let's say that we want add three hints and the solution to that question, even though this should, geographically speaking, not be necessary.
- Open the Evaluation Table of the Validater of this group. See Illustration. It's similar to the Evaluation Table active elements
- Do the following 4 steps in the first line
  1) Let the character "i" in the first column, it means hint
  2) Type “First letter of the town” in column Wording
  3) Define the Deduction for the hint in column Points
  4) Click in column Message and choose as illustrated
- Select the message 6001 and use the command Duplicate Selected Message. See Illustration. The duplicated message (ID 6013) appears next to message 6001. B.T.W. We could have used New Message from Template in above step 4.
- Select the message 6013 and open his tab Properties. See Illustration.
- Click on the black é(editor) button and replace the text with this text.
- When you leave with OK the RTF Editor you probably need to resize and center the text. Choose also your prefered colors.
- Leave the Message Editor with OK. The Evaluation Table of the Write Text Box is now this.

- Prepare the second line and copy the message of the first line. See Illustration.
- Click in second line to Paste by Copy (we want to modify it). See Illustration.
- Try to use once this short-cut!
- While you change the text like this, be aware not to modify the size because the short-cut will bypass the Properties tab. See Result after OK.

- In third line we add some historical hint (see next illustration).
- In forth line we add the solution. Set "s" in first column. It means solution. See Illustration. Note: the points for "s"-messages are ignored.
- Prepare the solution-message like this.
- The Evaluation Table of the Validater looks like this after this operations. We leave the Evaluation Table with OK.

We are ready for a temporary jump to ADPlayer to test the menu of the Validater. See Illustration.

SECOND PART: some tricky operations

There are some tricky possibilities, useful to know. Let’s say that we want to make a message for the solution of that question. AND we want to avoid typing the towns again. Do the following steps:

- Open the Evaluation Table of the Write Text Box of that question.
- Use the command File/transfer the grid... See Illustration.
- Confirm with OK at the appearing dialog. You arrive at the RTF-Editor with this.
- Use the RTF-Editor to arrange the list and use Edit/Copy to copy the arranged List.
- Leave RTF-Editor with Cancel and leave the Evaluation Table with Cancel (we only wanted to copy the list into the scrapbook).
Now we proceed us before, that is
- Open the Evaluation Table of the Validater of this group.
- Set "s" in first column, type "List of towns in decreasing order" in second column and use New Message in column Messages.
- Click the black é(editor) button and, using paste, prepare the message like this.

To add some hint we do this in the second line:
- Set "i" in first column, type "List of first letter of towns in decreasing order" in second column and use a copy of the message in the first line, Pasted by Copy into the second line. This copy we are going to modify, Illustration, in the following way.

We are ready for a temporary jump to ADPlayer to test the created messages.
Let’s say that we want to make message for the solution of that question. To use efficiently the copy / paste procedure we open the  Evaluation Table of the dependent element (the one with the rivers).
- Use the command File/transfer the grid.. with this setting in the appearing dialog.
- Do this operations now.
- Open the Evaluation Table of the Validater of the group. Fill first line and create New Message. See Illustration 1. See Illustration 2.
We are ready for a temporary jump to ADPlayer to test the created messages.
On the CD you find this example in the folder Sample/Try This/FolderEx12/
The files there are
- Document_Ex12.ADsrc  (the source file; a "W" in the icon)
- Document_Ex12.ADcomp  (the compiled file; a "P" in the icon)
