Example 15, Dictation

This description will add a dictation to
   -  Doc Example.ADsrc  (source,  "W" in the icon).
   -  Doc Example.ADcomp  (compiled, "P" in the icon)
established before. Both files can be found on the CD in the folder
     Samples\Try This\Example Folder
The description presumes all resources (pictures, sounds available) found in
     Samples\Try This\Example Folder\Example Resources

Note:

The question "Anthems and Flags" (see illustration of the question treated at example 13) is somewhat quite similar to a dictation!
Replace the Anthems-sound-files with Dictation-sound-files and replace the Flag-chose-box with a Texte Write Box and the dictation is prepared. With the Dictation Macro Create/Dictation it is rapidly done.
- Use the command Create/Macro/Dictation from the menu af ADWorks. Choose Line per Line on the appearing dialog and you get this Result.
- As done with “Anthems and Flags” we link to sound files for the spoken dictation. And we fill the Evaluation Table of the Text Write Box with the written text.
I am waiting for the subsidy of the king who will pay
1) the looking for a good story
2) the speaker for the dictation.
This part is not finished ->  I  added this Static Text.
About the  number of characters in a Text Write Box

There is no restriction about the number of characters in a Text Write Box. Only the comfortable causes a restriction.

About Carriage Return and Text Write Box

Text Write Boxes have 3 types. The type can be chosen on the Setting tab of the Evaluation Dialog. See Illustration. See also the mentioned appearing dialog and in the text above. The three types include

1) Normal (1 Line)
2) Return Accepted, Without Scrollbar
3) Return Accepted, With Scrollbar.
The Normal text type creates a text field where the text is one line of text without any carriage returns when viewed in ADPlayer.
Types two and three create Write Boxes where carriage returns are allowed. The Comparison Algorithm will compare as well then carriage returns for these two types.
Choose “normal” unless you have a good reason to choose types 2 or 3. Three raisons could be mentioned to choose type 2 or 3:
a) Text is rather long (dictation with "long" sound files),
b) Carriage returns must be found by learner,
c) Aligned other than left is desired. (“Normal” is always left aligned. Text with carriage return can be aligned to right or to the center.)
Types 2 and 3 have a drawback : Each item of the evaluation table needs a call to the text editor because of the carriage return. This makes the filling of the table quite “heavy”. Tip : If type 2 or 3 is choosen only for the alignement reason, then do this : First fill the tabel Normal and change to type 2 or 3 afterwards.
Changing from type 2 or 3 to 1 causes a warning because the software replaces carriage returns with a space in the Evaluation Table during this step. The goal is to have a coherent table in Normal mode.
